Proposals

Sketch a suggested change (parts, wires, even ICs) over the PDF, say why, collect comments and export a marked-up PDF.

Start a proposal

  1. Click Proposals in the toolbar, then + New proposal. Name it and click Create.
  2. Under Purpose, write what the change is for, e.g. "RC filter on ISENSE to cut switching noise".
  3. Set its status: Draft, Proposed, Accepted or Rejected.

Place parts

  1. Drag a part from the palette onto the schematic, or click it to drop it in the middle of the view.
  2. Drag a part to move it (Shift snaps to the grid); arrow keys nudge it (Shift + arrows: further).
  3. Drag a corner to resize it; press R to rotate it.
  4. Set its label and value in the panel (e.g. R101, 10k). Press Delete to remove it.
Tip
  • While you edit a proposal, clicks on the schematic go to the proposal. Click Done editing (or ←) to work with annotations again.

Draw wires

  1. Click the Wire tile (or press W).
  2. Click to drop the first anchor, then click to place each corner. Wires run across or up and down; hold Alt for any angle.
  3. Click a pin, or another wire, to connect to it: it's circled when you're close. Connected wires follow when parts move.
  4. Stop with Esc, Enter, a double-click or a right-click; press Esc again to leave the Wire tool.

Add an IC

  1. Drop the IC tile. In the panel, set its number of pins and its layout (two sides or four sides).
  2. Name its pins, one per line or separated by commas, starting from pin 1.
  3. Drag a corner to resize the box: its pins spread out to fit. Shift + corner scales the whole IC.

Color, weight and visibility

  1. Under Style, pick a color and a line weight (Thin, Normal, Bold) for everything in the proposal.
  2. In the proposals list, the eye shows or hides each proposal on the schematic.
  3. Undo and redo with Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Shift + Z, or the arrows in the panel.

Review with comments

  1. Open a proposal and scroll to Comments. Write one and click Comment (or Ctrl + Enter).
  2. Anyone who can open the project can comment, viewers included. Edit or delete your own; admins can delete any.
  3. Viewers and phones open a proposal from the list to read its purpose and comments.

Export a marked-up PDF or PNG

  1. Click ⤓ at the top of the Proposals panel.
  2. Keep Cover page and Corner notes on (or off), then click PDF with proposals: your schematic PDF with the proposals drawn on as vectors, after a cover page describing each.
  3. Or click PNG of page N for an image of the current page.
Tip
  • Only visible proposals are exported (or just the one you're editing). Hidden ones never are.
